The 1949 fall harvest season was winding down when a group of friends went to visit Altoona on a warm November weekend. On a whim we decided to check out the Everett Railroad's daily local from Hollidaysburg to Martinsburg, figuring we could catch the Pennsy's daily parade anytime. We lucked out on a wonderful chase with ex-Bath & Hammondsport 11 powering the mixed train. A local invited us to photograph the train on his lawn as it passed by, and I decided to include him in the frame.
