| Norfolk Southern 12Z is climbing up the NS Roanoke District out of Roanoke on its way to Shenandoah, Virginia. At Vesuvius, VA - the northbound navigates a series of curves that allow northbound trains to be photographed in good light at any time in the afternoon. Two regular Norfolk Southern motors take the head with another on the rear. Back in the steam era days, this task would've been handled by the N&W's finest 2-8-8-2 Y's. |
