Remarks & Notes
First Train Of The Year. Amtrak Train 63 (Maple Leaf) was the first Empire Service departure from New York Penn Station on January 1, 2023. A mechanical problem with P42DC 108 (50th Anniversary, Phase VI) resulted in P32AC-DM 715 (Phase III) being added to the consist, which is also unusual with the cafe car up front. The train is seen passing through Manhattan in a section of the Empire Corridor that is well below street level.

A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)

The beautiful Hudson Valley is rarely out of site between New York and Albany-Rensselaer on Amtrak's busy Empire Corridor.
