Amtrak's Empire Builder pulls into Wenatchee. In the background stands the 1920s Cascadian Fruit storage building. This warehouse was one of the first of its kind to employ refrigeration and was used mainly to store and ship apples. Wenatchee is nicknamed the Apple Capital of the World, having been known for the high quality of its apples since the early 1900s.
