New Train, New Terminal. Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) M9 no. 9020 (Kawasaki, 2019-present) is seen on Track 304 about to depart Grand Central Madison with train 9032 to Jamaica. The rail road's new terminal opened on January 25, 2023 as the culmination of the East Side Access project, which had been actively under construction for over sixteen years, affording LIRR and Metro-North riders a direct connection between the MTA's two commuter railroads.
