RailPictures.Net Photo: NYSW 4066 New York, Susquehanna & Western (NYS&W) EMD SD70M-2 at Ridgefield Park, New Jersey by Marc Glucksman/River Rail Photo
One Last Shot. The absolutely last photo possible of the unusual train was captured passing through the NYSW facility in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey with the Susquehanna marked water tower. This kind of intermodal freight is frequently seen on the tracks to the right, operated by CSX.
With A Little Help From Our Friends. On Sunday, February 5, 2023, Norfolk Southern Corp 28X was in the process of being diverted from its normal routing from 63rd Street Yard in Chicago, Illinois to Croxton, New Jersey due to a derailment in Ohio when it finished the final segment of its journey, traveling over the New York, Susquehanna, and Western Railway from Binghamton, New York to Little Ferry, New Jersey. Due to a PTC issue, NYSW 4066 (née-NS 2684, SD70M-2) was added to NS 7683 (ES44DC), 8084 (ES44AC) and 1817 (SD70ACC). The train was symboled as SU-100, and followed the normal Susie-Q routing. The NYSW normally runs 2 to 3 round trip "road trains" the full length of this route, along with more frequent locals that handle final mile deliver to customers or transloads on their railroad. Additional detour trains are being handled by CSX and other alternate routings while the effects of the derailment are managed.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
