Remarks & Notes
During the construction of the two 7-car express railcars ETR 300 called "Settebello" in 1952/1953 by Breda in Milano, this elegant train shape was developed, with a glazed observation compartment at both ends of the train and a driver's cab in a roof pulpit above. Minoletti, Ponti, Ricas, Tomasini, and Ciuti, the best planners and designers of the day, were called to work on it. When four other similar trains, the ETR 250 (# 251 to # 254) "Arlecchino" (harlequin) were built in 1960, they largely corresponded to the "Settebello" in terms of head shape. A third ETR 300 was built in 1959. Today, the ETR 252, beautifully restored from 2016 to 2019 and equipped with modern train control equipment, is preserved at the Fondazione FS Italiane. A train of the series ETR 300 (ETR 302) "Settebello" is currently under refurbishment. ETR # 252 stopped in Goia del Colle during the 3 day round trip "BELLA ITALIA EXPRESS" of the german IGE Erlebnisreisen.
