Remarks & Notes
Good evening from New York City's only subway vertical lift bridge! NYCT R-62A 2301 (Bombardier, 1984-1987) leads a 242 Street-Van Cortland Park northbound 1 line train past the unusual "Lift Bridge" signal that indicates whether the bridge is in the down position. - There are 7 vertical lift bridges at least partially in NYC: 3 road only - RFK/Triborough, Roosevelt Island, & Marine Parkway 2 railroad only - Park Avenue/Harlem River (MNR) & Arthur Kill (CSAO) 1 pedestrian only - Wards Island And this bridge, which is both rail and road Other notes: The Metro-North Hudson Line is below, and this picture was taken in Manhattan.
