“Rock ‘n Roll” At 09:36, Maryland Midland’s UBST departs the S.W. Barrick quarry with a healthy (26 car) train of aggregate destined for Barrick’s Finksburg Terminal at Cedarhurst.
Part of the primary (“Barrick”) pit can be seen in the right background. The “Legore” pit is located just to the east (behind the camera). For safety reasons, and to minimize disruption to local traffic, the two pits were connected by twin 340+ foot tunnels in 2021, thus keeping the heavy and slow-moving quarrying equipment off the public highway.
