Remarks & Notes
BN SD9 no. 6101 idles near the office on the approach to the ore docks fed by Allouez Yard. The former GN docks were the world's largest and although GN had very little mileage in Wisconsin, it was some of their busiest trackage with the volume of iron ore they handled. Today BNSF still brings in taconite trains, but SD9s no longer shove cars onto the docks. The taconite is dumped in a rotary unloader and sent to the dock by conveyor belt.
