Remarks & Notes
Tram Museum Bruxelles. On the left motor car # 1002. The 685 “standard” motor cars were closely linked to the image of Brussels for four decades, from the 1930s to the 1970s. They were built in less than five years in the transport company’s workshops. Their manufacturing process was highly industrialized. It was based on the pre-assembly of parts, which enabled production of one car per working day! The comfort of these trams was greatly improved after World War II thanks to the addition of doors, heating, and a conductor seat. Motor car 1002 is exhibited in its end-of-service condition. On the right PCC motor car series 5000 # 5018 built 1935, in operation til 1976. These comfortable trams served in Brussels between 1935 and 1976. The series had 25 trams and a few of them, including the 5018, were given a P.C.C. appearance.
