Late afternoon in Laws. Southern Pacific 10-wheeler #18 sits at the south end of the little railroad yard in Laws, California, at the end of a sparking March day, awaiting her next call to duty. The scenery in Laws is pretty hard to beat. The chocolate brown mountains with their caps of snow tower above both sides of the Owens River Valley. Pieces of historic, Southern Pacific Railroad infrastructure dot the landscape in the foreground.....and there is just the right amount of miscellaneous clutter to give the yard that operational feel.
