Amtrak's Pennsylvanian makes a late afternoon appearance at sunset seen here sprinting past the Cornwells Heights station in Bensalem, PA.
Cornwells Heights began as “Cornwells,” and is thought to take its name from Thomas Cornwell, who owned or worked the land at the time of his death in 1839. A community developed on the hill above the rail line, and thus both the station and the village came to be known as Cornwells Heights. The station was upgraded in 1997, adding high level platforms (only on the westbound side) and parking of 1,600 automobiles was added, accessed by a dedicated ramp off of the parallel I-95 interstate. Though primarily a SEPTA commuter station, Amtrak services the station with a couple of its "Keystone" trains.
