Train Set 1 In The Desert. When the first ALSTOM/Amtrak Acela 2/Avelia Liberty was released, it was transported to TTCI in Pueblo Colorado for extensive testing prior to the sets operating on regular revenue trackage under their own power, as seen here on September 1, 2020. The train was operated around the electric loop track at high speeds for several months while data was collected about its performance. It has since returned to the manufacturer, and will ultimately be delivered to Amtrak after modifications. The Acela 2/Avelia Liberty order totals 28 train sets for high speed service on the Northeast Corridor Line between Washington DC and Boston, Massachusetts.
