Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railway 4-8-4 3751 has just arrived at Los Angeles Union Station to spend the weekend on display at Los Angeles Union Station Train Festival 2023. As usual, this steam locomotive will be the most popular display, although Santa Fe SD45-2 5704, restored to its Bicentennial glory in 2022, will also be popular, as is its first time being on display since arriving in southern California on June 25, 2022. Fireman Alex Gilman, who is also the SBRHS’s official photographer, and Austin Goodwin watch from the cab as others get things ready for the crowds that are already lining up in the tunnel under the station’s tracks two hours before the displays open. It is going to be a hot day, and this cab will be even hotter! (Los Angeles, California – September 9, 2023)
