Passengers in BNSF Railway Dome-Parlor-Observation 35 Canyon View are enjoying a beautiful California sunset as train O-LACSDG1-20A, comprised of nine business cars pulled by ES44C4 6571, travels along the Pacific Ocean on its way from San Diego to Los Angeles (although the passengers will detrain in Fullerton). This car was built by Budd in 1956 for the Chicago Burlington & Quincy's Denver Zephyr - it was one of two blunt-end parlor-buffet-lounge-observation cars built for this train. This car was CB&Q 236 Silver Veranda, later Amtrak 9331 Silver Veranda. It was sold by Amtrak to the Burlington Northern Railroad in 1993 and stored for future rebuilding. That rebuild didn’t come until BN successor BNSF moved the car into the Topeka Shops and began work in February 2015, releasing it as BNSF 35 Canyon View in February 2016 after an extensive rebuilding. A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
