Eastbound and westbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe freights meet at Leyden, Colorado, on Union Pacific’s former Rio Grande Moffat Tunnel main line west of Denver on February 19, 2002. The eastbound train is led by BNSF GE C44-9W No. 4440 in what can only be called a putrid paint scheme. A batch of C44-9Ws were delivered with orange paint that quickly faded to… I’m not sure what to call it, maybe a yellowish color somewhat resembling weathered UP Armour yellow, making it blend with all that Heritage II yellow Scotchlite lettering and striping.
