Otisville Tunnel. After a large snowfall in the prior days, on March 14, 2022, New York, Susquehanna, and Western Railway train SU-100 was a daylight runner across the Southern Tier Line, with NYSW 4064 (née-NS 2708, SD70M-2, 2/2006) leading. The train is seen exiting the Otisville Tunnel in Otisville, New York. The tunnel was built 1908 by the Erie Railroad, allowing the railroad to be realigned at the highest point of the Graham Line and go through the mountain instead of over the top. Today, the line is used by NYS&W, Norfolk Southern, NJ Transit under agreement with MTA Metro-North Railroad, and Middletown & New Jersey Railroad. The tunnel is just under a mile in length, but with the bright sun and a strong zoom on the photo, it is possible to see beyond the train to the other end. Just under a year later, NYSW 4064 would be the first wide cab to be repainted in the railroad's corporate yellow and black paint scheme.
