| A quiet and foggy Saturday morning finds newly placed Great Northern caboose X-259 (built 1948) sitting on rails beside the city of Bemidji’s Great Northern Depot which was James J. Hill’s last commissioned depot. The caboose arrived at its new home on Jan 25th, 2024, and will be preserved and made safe for visitors while being an educational tool connecting those folks with the past railroad activity that helped shape the area. The depot is currently home to the Beltrami County Historical Society. |
