Engineer's desk in the small, elevated cab of the ETR (elettotreno rapido) # 252 "Arlecchino" of the Fondazione FS Italiane, in Cassino before the departure to Roma Termini. The train, built in 1960 by Breda for the Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) was completely renovated by the Fondazione FS Italiane and fitted with the SCMT train protection system. The maximum velocity was 160 km/h when built, increased to 180 km/h in 1970 and is now 160 km/h again since the renovation, measured by the Hasler speedometer made in Switzerland. The train driver has his left hand on the brake valve and his right hand on the control lever.
