Privately owned, former SBB locomotive Re 4/4 I # 10009 (Re 410 # 009) was built in 1947 by SLM, BBC, MFO and SAAS with the number # 409, and is nowadays operated by TR TransRail and will be based in Lyss BE as replacement locomotive and for transfer runs. Over the past few months, members of the “Pacific 01 202” association in Lyss have refurbished the locomotive and repainted it in cobalt blue. The SBB locomotive Re 4/4 I # 409 had been used in this color on a trial basis in the years 1957-59. The locomotive has 8 nozzle ventilation grilles on this side. These were installed on this series of locomotives from 1964 onwards because snow got into the engine room during frequent use in push-pull trains at the rear of the train in winter and put many locomotives out of service. On this day, the locomotive made its first public excursion in the new blue paint scheme to Lucerne with 3 coaches of the “Suisse Train Bleu” and one of the “Prestige Continental Express”, organized by ZRT Travel. Train 31360 is on the return journey from Lucerne via Wolhusen-Entlebuch-Langnau im Emmental-Konolfingen-Zollikofen to Lyss, between Malters and Schachen LU.
