SD40-2 Pair On The Link. On Friday, October 31, 2025, CSX M701(30) (Selkirk, NY-Bronx, NY) was a late arrival into Croton-On-Hudson, New York. As often happens, the train was tied down, and a yard crew, Y102, was taxiied to the train to bring it the last miles to Oak Point Yard in the Bronx, New York. This caused the train to travel in daylight, while its movements are normally all in the dark. These locomotives, CSXT 8854 (née-CR 6496, SD40-2, 8/1979) and 8840 (née-CR 6465, SD40-2, 10/1978), made a quick turn to switch cars and lead that evening's M702(31) (Bronx, NY-Selkirk, NY). EMD SD40-2s are becoming rare to see on this line as the number of AC44CWs and CM44ACs increases, so it was nice to catch a pair on the road.
