A visitor from the east is resting next to its western host in Pueblo, Colorado, on August 28, 1973. Norfolk & Western high-nosed U28B 1912 was built seven years earlier (8/66) and would be retired six years later. Rio Grande GP40 3086, built in 11/71, would later evolve into Southern Pacific 3086 (in 7/92, the first D&RGW unit repainted into SP colors).
