Remarks & Notes |
Seen on display at the National Railway Museum at York is Chinese Railways 4-8-4 Class KF7 No 607. It was built in 1935 by Vulcan Foundry in the North West of England as the first of a batch of twenty four locos for the Chinese National Railways. It is one of the largest non-articulated steam locomotives ever built in Britain. The total length of the locomotive (with tender) is 93 ft and 2 ½ inches. It ran until 1977 and was presented to the Museum by the then Minister of Railways of the People’s Republic of China in 1981.
