Remarks & Notes
Reminders of a different era. The railroad Gulch was once the heart of southeast railroads, with two large passenger stations and miles of rail. Today 50 or more trains still pass through but the glory is gone. Terminal Station was torn down in 1972, all that remains is the decaying South tower seen here. In the background is the former offices of the Southern Railway, which was closed when NS moved the offices to midtown Atlanta. In the foreground among the weeds can be seen the former station leads to the Terminal Station platform along with the one remaining platform used on rare occasions by NS.
