Denver and Rio Grande Western 5771, an EMD F7A, sits proudly in the bright Colorado sunshine near its original stomping grounds in Golden, Colorado at the Colorado Railroad Museum. DRGW 5771 was built by General Motors in September 1955. The unit was used in freight and passenger service over the Rio Grande system between Denver and Salt Lake City. The unit continued to run in service on the Rio Grande Zephyr, even after Amtrak took over all of Private Passenger Service in 1971. The Rio Grande Zephyr was discontinued in the early 80s, and the DRGW 5771 F7A and F7B were donated to the Colorado Railroad Museum.
