Warm sun on the distant trees contrasts with the frosty scene still lurking in the shadows below. An overnight temperature of zero combined with the humid air of the unfrozen river created inch-thick hoar frost on the foliage along the riverbank. Shortly after the grimy Amtrak engine and three Superliners en route for Chicago passed, the sun quickly made history of this beautiful winter scene.
