Remarks & Notes |
After several years out of service, oil-burning R711 underwent a series of slow speed runs at Newport today prior to an expected return to traffic later this year. The locomotive was converted to oil burning during its time under the custodianship of West Coast Railway during the late 1990s. The locomotive is now painted in an unauthentic Victorian Railways livery for this class, similar to that of which the former VR S class steam locomotives carried from the late 1930's to complement the Spirit of Progress Melbourne - Albury train. |
