Less than a month before the Clinchfield's "High Line" bypass of downtown Johnson City was complete, southbound freight #696 rolls through the busy Johnson City downtown area in October 1970 beind a pair of F units and a single SD40. Some of this trackage (out of the photo) is still visible in 2010 and is currently operated by the East Tennessee Railway.
