I wanted to make a picture epitomizing the FCCA railroad, a picture that would say “This is high mountain railroading on standard gauge track”. I wanted a picture that the FCCA railroaders would be proud of and that they would like to stick on the wall in their facilities or offices or even at home. I knew that I had got what I was looking for when I saw this vertical rock stuck out right on the edge of the abyss, with the Andes Cordillera in the background.
I take the opportunity of this picture to acknowledge the outstanding support of the FCCA and to warmly thank Juan, John, Hugo, Chamo, the “maquinistas” and a many other railroaders who helped my photography on the “Central Andino”.
