Storm of the Century. Blizzard warnings went up on Friday March 12, 1993 for most of New York State as a massive storm moved up the entire East Coast. Conrail reacted by preparing plows on Friday and one of their actions was to move their modern rotary from its home at Goodman Street in Rochester to Syracuse. On Saturday morning, as the storm gets started the rotary is fueled and prepared for service while it sits on the team track near the West End Crew Room. Syracuse got 42.9 inches from this storm, closing most roads in Central NY including I-90. Conrail dispatched many plow trains on the 14th and 15th. The rotary would head east for the Boston Line during Saturday evening at the height of the storm.
