Remarks & Notes
Due to a derailment on the UP Overland Route in Wyoming, Amtrak received permission to detour eastbound train #6, the San Francisco Zephyr, via the Rio Grande between Salt Lake City and Denver. During a quick servicing stop at Helper, crews work to add water to Amtrak SDP40F 624. The Helper Fire Department has called Fire Engine No. 2 to assist with the endeavor. While this photo doesn't really say 'Rio Grande' in any way, it's one of my favorite shots taken within this hardy little railroad town.

Pictures of things often unseen in the world of railroading. Interesting equipment, operations, and people that help the railroad go around.
