The major custom between Cajon and Barstow is Cemex's Victorville plant. The plant has an in-plant railroad, the Mojave Northern, which shuttles material from the mine back to the plant. In this photo, you can see the Mojave Northern's small yard and the line leading to the mine about 15 miles to the east. Of course, the most notable item in the frame is SWPC 411 painted for the plant's pervious owner. SWPC 411 is one of only 35 SDP35 ever produced and the only one remaining in regular service. Notice how the carbody extends over the rear porch, where a steam generator for passenger service was located.
