Remarks & Notes
Dwarfed by the 259 ft length of the historically significant canal motorship "Day Peckinpaugh", the 65 ft long SD40-2 leader on CP 450 rolls SB towards Kenwood Yard at the Port of Albany,NY on a summer like St. Patricks Day. Built in 1921, narrow and low to clear bridges and canal locks, the Day Peckinpaugh was the last working freighter on the Erie Canal and was retired in 1994. It served both the Erie Canal and Great Lakes. The 5698 was built in January 1975 by GMD. Trail SD40-2's are ICE 6215 and CP 6069.
