Remarks & Notes
Barton, MD 10/12/2012 - The Western Maryland Railway had four Alco FA-2s, one of which survives on the Georges Creek Railway along with sister WM GP-9 25. Sold by the WM in 1972, the FA-2 was stripped of its prime mover and converted to a cab car for commuter train service on the Long Island Railroad. Today cobwebs and peeling paint adorn the interior of WM 303's cab while it waits for its own meticulous restoration, as WM 25 received from the GCK in 2008. Coupled to two vintage WM ballast cars from the early 1900s, the 303 sits on a short siding along the first mile of newly restored trackage on the GCK, which is itself a resurrected WM branchline. Access to locomotive cab by permission.

Pictures of things often unseen in the world of railroading. Interesting equipment, operations, and people that help the railroad go around.
