Three hours late. Amtrak train 97, the southbound Silver Meteor, is only 33 miles from its origin point of New York City, but is already three and a half hours late as it flies past NJT's Jersey Avenue station. Scheduled to depart at 3:15PM, it was almost 7:00PM before the train left New York. It would make up about an hour before arriving in Miami the following afternoon.
