The Empire Builder departs after performing a pretty quick 13-minute station stop at St. Paul's Midway Station. Amtrak employees at Midway estimated to the riders waiting in the waiting area that the train would arrive at 1:00pm, then got pushed back 1:17pm, then 1:25pm due to a BNSF train blocking a clear path at St. Anthony. As soon as that cleared an Amtrak staff member came over the intercom system with a regretful tone, "looks like there is yet anther BNSF train, this one is a container train and will change crews. Again, sorry for the delays and we thank you for your patronage." Around 1:55pm the Empire Builder poked the nose of the lead locomotive 154 at the south end of the Minnesota Commercial A Yard waiting for a Minnesota Commercial employee to come align the powered switch to the station platform. Finally at 2:00pm the train came to a stop for the MSP station stop. A frustrating series of event for Amtrak, nearly an hour of delays within a half mile of the station.
