Remarks & Notes
Positioned in the center of the town's modern day commercial district, the 1906 built Chesapeake & Ohio St. Albans Depot watches over the double track mainline as it has over for a century. An original passenger depot, serving the Charleston suburb of St. Albans, the depot watched iconic C&O passenger trains pass such as the Fast Flying Virginian, George Washington, and Sportman. Despite receiving extensive damage by a C&O freight train derailment and in more recent years, a car collision, the depot serves today as home to a railway preservation organization. Tonight, silhouetted against an impressive lightning show and thunderstorm, the depot watches over the empty rails of today's CSX Kanawha mainline. Rail traffic to the east has just been delayed as a result of a fallen tee, crippling operations until the storm passes.

Lights In The Night (Sundown to Sunrise)! Railroads In Another Perspective!

An ongoing/growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome, but seldom seen beauty of railroads because most of us don't go out after sundown or before sunrise. From dusk to dawn, lights are on! (And I continue to find new "Lights In The Night"!)
