Remarks & Notes
The Sóller Train

The Sóller Train is a remarkable privately owned narrow-gauge railway that provides a regular passenger service and which basically earns its living from tourism - though it is not what is known as a "tourist train". It works all year long, with four superbly maintained electric railcars looking as if they were brand new out-of-the-factory although they were built in 1929.

This Sóller-Palma train travels above Sóller in a wonderful pine tree forest, not far from a panorama balcony called "Mirador Pujol de'n Banya", a remote and barely accessible spot where some trains stop so that passengers can enjoy the fabulous mountain landscape that is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Indeed, this mountain is part of the Serra de Tramuntana. It is a mountain range running southwest-northeast which forms the northern backbone of the island of Mallorca. On the 27th June 2011 The Tramuntana Range was awarded World Heritage Status by UNESCO as an area of great Physical and Cultural significance.
