Remarks & Notes |
With brand new ET44C4 3911 leading Dash 9-44CW 4960, ES44DC 7452 and ES44C4 6578, the Q-ATGLAC6-11 climbs the 1.4% grade through the cut through the lava beds on Ash Hill in California’s Mojave Desert. It is 112 degrees on August 15, 2015 making the air conditioned cabs of modern locomotives very welcome. The cut was blasted through the lava as part of the 1923 line change project. The Q-ATGLAC is an intermodal train that runs on the CSX from Atlanta to Birmingham and then on the BNSF to Hobart yard in Los Angeles. |
