The Ma and Pa (Maryland and Pennsylvania) was a steam-era fan favorite that connected the 45-mile-distant cities of York, Pennsylvania and Baltimore, Maryland, by way of 72 miles of trackage through mostly rural farmland. In 1958, Pa left Ma when the road abandoned almost its entire route in Maryland. By the time this photo was taken in 1986, the Ma and Pa had retrenched to be a local switching road around York. Here an ex-Reading GP7 and an SW9 sit outside the fenced-in, junkyard environment enginehouse.
