Deep in the woods of Maine.... Deep in the icy Maine wilderness, a WW&F Mixed Train runs southbound just above Humanson Brook (left), about 6 miles from its destination, the coastal town of Wiscasset. Wiscasset was the focal point of the railroad's operations, because of its interchange with the standard gauge Maine Central Railroad. The WW&F lines from Winslow and Albion to the coastal village of Wiscasset were, for several decades, rural Mainer's most reliable link with the outside world.
