| The DL class were built by CNR Dalian Locomotive & Rolling Stock in China from 2010 to 2014 with 3500Hp MTU motors. Reported to be the first order for diesel locomotives from a western railroad and the first new mainline locomotives for a NZ railroad for nearly 30 years, reflecting investment by the government after the buy back in 2008. |
