The 470 Railroad Club of Portland's annual charter train heads West passing under Route 302 at Cooks Crossing in Bartlett. The train will proceed West through Crawford Notch to Fabyan Station and return East to North Conway. Normally the club's own 1949 F7 which served Boston and Maine Railroad is one of the locomotives for this trip. Due to the full 9 car train the railroad elected to use both dynamic brake equipped locomotives for the steep mountain descent. The 4266 did lead the consist to Conway earlier in the morning on the first leg of the trip before it was dropped off in North Conway when the train headed West toward the Crawford Notch Line. Locomotive #216 is a former Norfolk & Western GP35 and locomotive #252 is a former Maine Central GP38 that pulled the last regular freight train through Crawford Notch in 1983.
