In a rare occurrence of Pan Am's GP9s leading a road freight, GP9 52, decorated in Maine Central heritage paint, leads NMWA (Northern Maine Junction - Waterville) over the Kennebec River, from Benton into Fairfield. This is one of three surviving GP9s (the second unit, the 72, is another of the three) left on the Pan Am roster, and as stated, is highly unusual for them to be put on a road job, let alone lead one. In a few minutes they will be home in the Waterville yard, and they'll be put back to work switching in the yard.
