Poking out of Amtrak's Rensselaer shops on January 26, 2017 is 700, the "class unit" of the carrier's 18 P32AC-DM dual mode (both diesel and electric) locomotives. Soon, the 700 and its five-car train will emerge from the shops and wander to the nearby Albany-Rensselaer station, where it will board passengers and become train #242, an Albany-Rensselaer to New York Empire Service train.
