A Disappearing View?

BNSF Railway train S-LHWCLO1-11 (Intermodal Stacks; Los Angeles Harbor CA [West Basin] - Clovis NM) rounds the big curve just before reaching Summit, as the top of southern California's Cajon Pass, on February 13, 2017. This is, of course, one of the iconic photo locations in Cajon Pass. But this is now an endangered photo location, as California Highway 138, the infamous road from Interstate 15 to Summit by way of winding hairpin curves and steep grades, is getting rebuilt and will become much straighter, thanks to three new bridges and a lot of new grading. From the looks of the grading at Summit, it appears that the highway may end up lower when completed - possibly at about the same height as the railroad. (For the record, the train stretched out in the distance is not the same as the train led by ES44DC 7799 - That is a westbound descending the grade.)
