Remarks & Notes |
The California Zephyr leaves Denver's Union Station and heads to San Francisco. 30 years ago the area adjacent to Denver's Union Station was called the Platte Valley Rail Yards. There were 35 tracks feeding a massive rail yard that was used by five railroads. Today the area is a mix of high end apartments and office buildings, with new ones seemingly going up in the span of four months. People probably remember the lean years when Denver's economy was sliding as fast as the oil and gas industry's decline. Now its unusual if there are fewer than five or six cranes slinging building materials. |
