ÖBB 5081.565 during the stop at Präbichl. This day train 4106 from Leoben Hbf to Hieflau was full of people who went skiing. They all left the "Schienenbus" at Präbichl, highest point of the line and went back on their skies. This line is already closed a long time ago. This photo was made in the last years of exploitation. Until the late seventies, this line was a rack railway, with steam locomotives operating trains with iron ore over the mountain. A short time diesel locomotives of the series 2143 with a reinforced braking system were used to to the job, not using anymore the cog system. After that there was only passenger service with the railbusses, three times a day, until the closure of the line.
