The first hint of daylight begins to show itself over the vast farmlands of northern Illinois as an eastbound stack train takes a clear signal at Ancona on the former Santa Fe Transcon. The landmark AT&SF searchlights here have since been removed from service and fallen to new, standardized technology, making this, now, a boring stretch of railroad. The farm equipment in the foreground and silos to the far left are most appropriate for this region of the United States where agriculture is king.
